Be The Change...

Sometimes i wonder where are all the true, honest and faithful people of God, the people that won't settle for second best, but strive toward perfection in God? It's like we have either forgotten or don't care about Jesus and all the pain and suffering he went through just for us... for me... for you! He never broke a single law or committed a sin, yet he is the one that died and this is how we say thank you, this is how we show him we love him, by letting his sacrifice, his pain and his death be in vain by being lukewarm?
I once heard a speaker describe being lukewarm. He said being lukewarm is like taking a drink from a cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate that you have wanted all day and not expecting it to be room temperture. Your first reaction is to spit it back out in disguist and disappointment! In Revelations 3:16, thats exactly what God says about us being lukewarm 'So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.' (NIV)
Is that what we want, for our Saviour to be so unhappy and disappointed in us that he get rid of us? We say we are christians but our lifestyles haven't changed, we still cuss, we still carry on rude, still disrepect each other. What exactly has changed about us, what evidence do we have to show that we are who we say we are, that we're not just all talk?  'Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.' (1Corinthians 13: 4 -5 NIV)
I have heard people being called 'holier than thou' and 'rightous' and been a bit confused, since when was trying to live a holy and rightous life wrong? Isn't that exactly what God wants, people that are sold out for him at all costs?

Mary and Martha... Who Are You?

In Luke 10:38-42, there small passage about two sisters called Mary and Martha. Jesus and the disciples was invited into their home. Now while he was there, Martha was rushing around, trying to tidy up, cook, clean and prepare, while Mary was just sat so calmly at the feet of Jesus listening to everything he was saying. Martha felt so annoyed and fustrated at the fact that her sister wasn't helping her do anything, but instead, just sat chilling out and listening to Jesus. Martha got so fustrated she went up to Jesus and asked him to tell her sister to help her. Jesus' reply was 'Martha Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed - or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her' (NIV).

Sometimes we get like Martha, we rush around trying to please God, doing the things that we think God wants us to do, saying the things we think God wants to hear, but sometimes all he wants is our time. Our time to sit, relax and listen to him just like Mary.

So my encouragement for you, is to spend more time listening, reading and praying to God. Start creating a special time in your day for God, whether it be in the morning as you wake up or evening before you go to bed. You will definetly notice the difference in your spiritual life.....

Standards: Do I have any?...

Commitment is a strong word, well by God's standards of commitment it is. When I think of commitment I think of a boyfriend and girlfriend relationship, but is that a real commitment in God's eyes? Being commited to someone includes giving your all for and to them. Isn't it unfair to give my all to a person who may not end up being my life long partner? What will I have to offer my other half if all I am is and has been dedicated to the 'trail' partner?... Isn't that unfair?
But my body is saying, why not, go ahead, it's ok God will forgive me. God created commitment which includes sex, for marriage. So if I want to live by God's standards and want to be commited to a person, I have to be ready for marriage otherwise the commitment is worthless. So if i'm not ready for marriage, then why should i get into a relationship, for relationship sake?.......

Living the 10/10 life...

We have been given life without boundaries. We need to take the limits off ourselves and God. We are all destined to die at some point in our possibly long life, but just because we have a long life doesn't mean we have had a full life. I don't want to have a long life unused i want a life poured out... John 10:10

The Word is L>O>V>E...

Why are so many people out for just themselves in a time like this, the world is cruel but as christians we are sopposed to be supporting and helping as many people as possible, from trying to help people in poverty to giving someone a lift home when needed.
'If any of your people become poor and unable to support themselves, you must help them, just as you are supposed to help foreigners who live among you.' Leviticus 25:35 (contemporary English version)
'Generosity will be rewarded: Give a cup of water, and you will receive a cup of water in return.' Proverbs 11:25 (contemporary English version)
We as christians need to look at how we live our lives on a day to day basis, God is not judging us on how we act in church but how we serve outside of church. We have been instructed to go out into the world and spread the word, the word is love, God is love... so why we still stuck to our church seats?
Spreading the word doesn't mean you have to be preaching. Spreading and showing God's love is more then preaching, it's they way you treat the homless and poverty strucken, it's they way you think about your enermies and rivals, it's the attitudes you have towards your mother, father, siblings, family and friends, its the way you conduct yourself everyday. There is so many people looking, begging and searching for a special love, not realising its God's love they need and guess what we have it! Why not give them the love they need? What is stopping us?
We do not want to be like the seeds that fell on rocky ground or like the seeds that fell around thornbushes, but we need to be like the seeds that fell on good ground and lasted and grew a harvest (luke 8:9 -15) because with the harvest we have, people will and can get fed, if we are just sitting on our harvest we are getting fatter and unhealther which is not needed.
Think about how you can change someones life and not just sit on the thought but get up of your bottom and do it, we don't have anything stopping or holding us back, so just do it, spread the light to all you can.......
